Paula Hoisington appointed as next board leader
Paula Hoisington will become the new Chair of the Board of Directors in October. A long-time community advocate with a strong track record in nonprofit and public service leadership, Paula brings both passion and expertise to this pivotal role.
Paula recently retired as Deputy District Administrator for the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, where she oversaw financial services, contracting and procurement, human resources, IT, and communications. Her leadership is grounded in collaboration, strategy, and community empowerment.
She also chairs the Central Florida Urban League Board and South Lake Black Achievers and has held leadership roles with several other influential organizations.
“Paula brings insight, integrity, and a forward-thinking vision that will help guide our work in the years ahead,” said Laura Michalski, executive director. “Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to fostering partnerships throughout South Lake County.”
When asked about how she plans to lead the Foundation board and collaborate with her colleagues, Paula pointed to her family roots and commitment to service. “If you can help someone, you don’t expect something back. It’s not about you,” she said, a lesson passed down from her father and grandfather.
“As board chair, I will do my part. Listen. I won’t come in and tell people what they need. We’ll figure it out together,” she added. “I believe in utilizing the strength of our team, using the strengths of the board and staff. Everyone plays a role.”
Hoisington stressed the importance of visibility and collaboration: “How can we get our name out, make it a household name? Make sure we’re visible for things going on in South Lake County.”
