RICK DOUDEN & KAREN DANIELS' STORY

Rick and Karen met in Pennsylvania and relocated to South Carolina, where both worked in healthcare for over 20 years. South Carolina is where their philanthropic work began through their active role in the South Carolina Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. They later chose The Villages to live out their retirement dreams and have resided in the community for over 11 years. Since retiring to Florida, the two have focused their efforts on the Walk MS fundraiser for the National MS Society and supported various organizations providing services to Veterans and education opportunities to disadvantaged children.

In 2018, Rick and Karen chose to open a Donor Advised Fund, “Earth Hand Fund,” with the CFSLC to increase their impact in the areas of interest that mean the most to them. Over the years, our team has managed the fund and connected them with local non-profits that serve Veterans and students. Rick Stated, ” Karen and I are especially grateful for the personal attention, transparency, and patience CFSLC has shown us to help us achieve our goals to make a difference.” When awarded the Philanthropist of the Year Award, the pair humbly responded, “all we do is write the check,” and thanked the many non-profits and leaders on the front lines in our community every day.

It is because of people like Rick and Karen, we are able to reach the needs of people where they are at. Their contribution to our community is appreciated, and the CFSLC is honored to assist them in making the most impact.
