Donor Stories
A gift for Today and Tomorrow
Philanthropists Benny and Susan Mclean have lived in this community for over 47 years.
They are passionate about giving back and entrusted the Community Foundation of South Lake as a vessel to create a lasting impact for future generations. They opened the Mclean Family Fund, a donor-advised fund for charitable interests in Civic Leadership, Community and Economic Development, Health and Human Services, and Religious organizations.
The Community Foundation of South Lake worked closely with the Mcleans, providing flexibility to help meet their philanthropic goals of making a local impact and uplifting the community.

It's Personal: Giving to Special Causes
Don Rose and his wife, Evelyn, support the Foundation not only with time, through Don’s service on the Board, but also with heartfelt donations. “My monetary donations represent an outward evidence of my commitment to the goals and objectives of the Foundation,” said Don. “The more people give to the Foundation, the greater the ability of the Foundation to support the charities serving our community. We are particularly invested in the programs that provide food and housing.”

Lasting Philanthropic Impact
Larry Rescoe, philanthropist, inventor, businessman, and community leader was welcomed through heaven’s gates on December 9, 2021. Larry was a loyal board member, donor, and fund holder dedicated to his community.
In 2010, Larry opened a Donor-advised fund with the Foundation. With that, Larry supported several deserving nonprofit organizations in our community. In 2019, Larry was chosen as philanthropist of the year. Thankful for his award, he accepted and stated, “I am honored to receive this award. God commands us to give 10% of our income to help his work. Knowing that I can’t give enough, I have given my time and money. God has given me talents for a reason to help others.” Larry utilized his Donor Advised Fund to do all his annual giving because of the ease and flexibility.
Shortly before Larry’s death, he decided to make a substantial gift to his fund and endow fund, making it a permanent fund to support his selected charities in perpetuity forever. Larry’s Legacy will impact the community forever.
