The Community Foundation of South Lake manages several funds that help make your giving easier. Donors can make a donation in any amount to either of our existing funds. CFSLC ESTABLISHED FUNDS
Foundation Endowment – This endowed fund established the Community Foundation of South Lake County in 1995 through the sale of the hospital into the Orlando Health system. The annual investment income from the endowment is granted into the South Lake Tax District to assist nonprofit organizations with the services they offer to the community.
Feeding Lake County Endowed Fund – With a grant from the Edyth Bush Foundation, this fund was established to alleviate hunger needs in perpetuity and encourage support from donors to support those efforts. Nonprofit organizations located in Lake County receive funds to replenish food pantries or provide feeding programs to the community.
Natural Disaster Fund – This fund was established as a way to help respond to the needs of our community following natural disasters in Florida. In the wake of a disaster, our goal is to address the needs in Lake County before providing aid to surrounding areas.
SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
Clermont High School Alumni Scholarship Fund – Annually provides multiple scholarships to deserving students that have had a relative who graduated from Clermont High School.
Don Wickham Fund – Provides an annual scholarship to a deserving South Lake county student who is interested in pursuing a degree in the health field.
Emma Keown Memorial Scholarship Fund – This fund was established in memory of Emma Keown, a South Lake High School graduate. She was a member of the swim team and each year a scholarship is awarded to a senior student who is a member of the school’s swim team.
Frank B. Farr Scholarship Fund – Frank B. Farr, Jr. was a scholar and athlete at Groveland High School. To honor his memory, a student athlete from South Lake High School is awarded a scholarship each year.
Julian & Ruby Ann Rowe Scholarship Fund– This fund was established to award a deserving student in South Lake County with financial assistance to attend an accredited college or university. The Rowe’s were very involved in their community and their wish was to award students who also show community involvement through their service.
Pig on the Pond/Project Scholar – This scholarship fund was established through the proceeds of the annual Pig on the Pond event held in Clermont. Four students are chosen each year to receive a $10,000 scholarship that allows them $2500 each year, for four years. Eligible students are chosen from the South Lake Hospital tax district.
Shaw Buck Athletic Scholarship – The Groveland High School Alumni Association awards scholarships to senior student athletes attending South Lake High School.
DONOR AND NON-PROFIT ESTABLISHED FUNDS
Association of Fundraising Professionals – Central Florida Chapter Agency Flex Fund – Established to support the long term sustainability of the organization.
Alan Hays Leadership Fund – Established to support the growth and leadership of groups and individuals in Lake County
Back to School is Cool Legacy Fund – This fund is used to serve the needs of the non-traditional student to include: medical expenses, educational and graduation fees, and other emergent needs.
Becky Elswick Educational Fund – Developed to support and enhance public education in South Lake County.
Boys & Girls Club Lake Sumter Fund – Established for the sole purpose of providing financial support to the organization.
Christian Helping Hands Fund – This designated fund was established to support the work of Samaritan’s Purse and College of the Lake of the Ozarks.
Clermont Minneola Lions Club Fund – This fund supports the work of the Lion’s Club through charitable donations related to eyesight and hearing needs.
Cooper Memorial Fund – Established to provide monies to purchase books, library materials, and technology.
Dahl Family Fund – The fund is focused on supporting educational and religious organizations.
DeStefano Family Scholarship Fund – The fund will be used to support educational scholarships.
E3 Family Solutions – An agency Flex Fund that supports the mission of the organization, specifically the ABC for Teens program.
Friends of South Lake Endowment Fund – This endowed fund was established to provide water safety for those who would otherwise have limited access. Through this fund, children and adults will receive swim lessons and new swim instructors can be certified.
Hospice of Lake & Sumter County – The purpose of this fund is to further or assist in the implementation of HFLS’s organizational goals and objectives.
John & Virgene Family Foundation – Established to fund various charitable interests that include: Community & Economic Development, Education and Religious organizations.
Lew Burdette Caregiver Fund – This fund was established in memory of Lou Burdette to provide financial support to “Lou’s Cottage” which provides respite care for caregivers.
LifeStream Behavioral Center Agency Flex Fund – Established as an Agency Flex Fund, the purpose is to financial support to the mission and activities of LifeStream Behavioral Center.
Love Thy Neighbor Fund – Established to fund charitable interests in the areas of: Health & Human Services and Religious organizations.
Lucille A. Smith Legacy Fund – This fund was established by Lucille Smith as an endowed fund. The interest that comes off the endowment each year is given to Habitat for Humanity for funding a portion of a house that is built in the South Lake community. Lucille’s passion for the work of Habitat for Humanity through the establishment of this endowment has created a legacy that will live on in perpetuity.
Mark & Terri Starcher Family Fund – A donor advised fund established to fund charitable interests in the areas of Community & Economic Development and Religious organizations.
McLean Family Fund – A donor advised fund established to fund charitable interests in the areas of: Civic Leadership, Community & Economic Development, Health & Human Services and Religious organizations.
New Vision for Independence – Established as an Agency Flex Fund, the purpose is to financial support to the mission and activities of New Vision.
Paul J. DeMuth – This Endowed Designated Fund was established to support the survivors of 911.
Ray Goodgame Fund – A donor advised fund established to disburse charitable gifts in various areas to include religious and food security.
Rescoe Endowment Fund – Established to fund charitable interests in the areas of food security, religious and community related needs.
Southern Sisterhood Society Fund – This designated endowed fund was established to assist South Lake women who would like to further their education at Lake Technical College.
South Lake Hospital Adoption Scholarship Fund – The fund was established to offer qualified students who were born at South Lake Hospital and then adopted to receive a scholarship to attend post-secondary education.
South Lake Hospital Agency Flex Fund – Established as fund to support the mission of South Lake Hospital.
South Lake Hospital GEMS Fund – This fund is to further assist in the implementation of South Lake Hospital’s goals and objectives.
Steve J. & Marilyn L. Donnellon Board Development Fund – This fund has been established as a bequest and will be used to fund Board Development training for local nonprofit organizations.
Sugarloaf Valley Fund – The donor’s intent of this fund is to assist in areas such as: Animal Welfare, Community & Economic Development, Health & Human Services, Education, Environmental Issues & Religious Organizations.
The Earth Hand Fund – The fund was established to address needs in the areas of Early Education, Veterans and Animal Welfare.
Women’s Giving Alliance – This field of interest fund was established to inspire women to be strategic philanthropists and to improve the lives of women and children in the South Lake community. Grants are made to the nonprofit organizations that address the issues facing women and children.
